Happy Memorial Day?

I’ve seen the phrase (without the question mark) all over the place this weekend, but the first word seems wrong. Not that I think Memorial Day should be unhappy, but solemn, respectful, reflective, thoughtful, or contemplative would all be better adjectives than happy.
