Another Unfortunate Name

A few days ago, National Review Online had a box in the margin advertising a book by Florence King, whom the advertisement called 'Flo'. It's not there now, either because they rotate their ads or because it didn't sound quite right. I lean towards the latter. After all, if 'Max Power' sounds like a porn star (who said that?), and adding 'Combustible Boy' to his site makes it sound like either a superhero comic or a gay porno movie, surely 'Flo King' could only be a brand name for plumbing supplies.

Miss King has also made it known in the past that she detests being called "Flo." Either she saw it and objected (using both barrels, most likely) or someone pointed out the problem.

Actually, it's just that they rotate their ads. I saw it again today. Everytime I see it I wonder when the explosion is going to come.

Oh, and I wonder why they're promoting a book that's several years old now. Where's the new Florence King?

(Who my mind persists in thinking of as "Flarnz". As in "You must be Flarnz they told us you were coming today Flarnz you are Flarnz aren't you we're on the lookout for a young lady named Flarnz I mean to say aren't you the new graduate student Flarnz King?" From one or another of her books.)
